you kept knocking
me down
because you knew if I got up
i would probably
walk away.
Feminist, Writer, Cult Classic
you kept knocking
me down
because you knew if I got up
i would probably
walk away.
lately
i’ve been longing
for something
i lost–
a touch i can’t fully remember
but one
i can’t bring myself
to forget.
put the pieces back together
and be still–
just as it took time to grow
it takes time to heal
as well.
in the midst of the chaos
i closed my eyes
and watched the stars bloom slowly
through the darkness–
and in this moment
i knew
i would be
okay.
her love was
the night sky
on which my whole
universe
was painted.
i have learned
to love
this body
which has held
together
my broken pieces
so beautifully.
do not define
who you are
based on the reflections of yourself
in people
who don’t understand you.
i wished
to get so lost
that the suffering
would never
find me.
i opened myself
to you
and all you did
was take.
do not be surprised
when men
without the patience
to understand you
do not have
the ability
to love you.
