I feel you, Christopher. I see it as, I can give the same lukewarm replies to people and they will continue on as if pain wasn’t etched throughout my existence. I don’t expect strangers to catch on, but I catch on to that pain in others quickly. It’s heartbreaking to not have it returned from 1 or a close number of people.
I sometimes think that the most powerful thing we can do for another human being is to really see them. I know what it is like to feel like you are drowning behind a calm exterior and how isolating and frightening it is to discover that you have gotten so good at maintaining the facade that even the people closest to you do see you bleeding out all over the floor. Hmm. . .perhaps I have just gotten a little too intense here. Sorry!
Groundhog Night?
lolol yes!
There’s a kind of universality in your poem – don’t most of us put on the same show if we can get away with it?

it is so engrained in us to say we are okay when people ask us how we are, so true
It sure is! When my closest people ask me, I say, “Socially acceptable answer, or honest answer?” That’s also the smart ass reply, though. 😉
Give them a few drinks and they’ll like anything
haha 2 drink minimum

I like it, and it’s true, truly listening to people and being perceptive and persistent with them is so important
They might be more interested in seeing you than the show!
well put!
