Consumers consumed
By what comes next;
From shore to shore
The same 30 stores,
But still nothing is cheap,
The poor men will weep
As their debts get deep,
The age old trap
By the social elite.

Great write, unfortunately not just the elite, even the poorest are manipulated into getting in way over their heads at the holidays.
so true, then in January we are all looking at our accounts like oh ****
Exactly! 🙂
Love it. I’m glad I’m not fighting with the crowd this year. For myself, I have no need for anything for many years now. I know the stores are not happy with me, but on well….
lolol same here, even I’ve noticed when it comes to closing I have been focusing more on utility/durability and less on fashion
We are rats in a maze…led around by the scent of cheese. I agree. Just have to ignore it all and walk your own path…that’s the only way to live and stay sane.
it really is, it’s amazing when you realize how much is bs, but really shows you what matters
Oh so true.. I’m sick of those same 30 stores on every High Street.. Bring back individualism but you’re right.. that wouldn’t suit the ‘elite owners’.. Great poem as always Christopher. Hope you have a great weekend x
hope you have a great weekend too! wouldn’t that be nice, I love independent stores and I feel like they help enrich the sense of community in cities and towns!
So do I Christopher and I see ‘hints’ of some ‘independent’ shops coming back onto our local high streets but not many… Most towns are like ‘clones’ of each other which is such a shame.. Enjoy your weekend! xx
